I LOVE infusionsofts automation links. I love what they can do for the client – the prospect – and the webmanager! Many don’t know the power these links have and think that these links are only good for tracking clicks. Here is an example of how I like to use the links. There are several reasons – but here is just one of my favs…

So you send an email to your list about an upcoming teleclass or webinar or even a livestream broadcast you are leading. This is free to your community of subscribers. Typically, users would send an email to their list with a link to a registration page. This sometimes is needed – as this page can provide more details, etc (and if you are also promoting outside your list to affiliates, facebook, etc, you would need this page still.)

But – why not take another approach to this. Put these details in your email – and then use the automation link to “automatically register” them. Why make your subscriber who has already signed up to be in your community – sign up for something again? With the automation links in infusionsoft, you can simply instruct them to “click here to automatically register”. The actions behind this link is to then tag them and add them to the follow up sequence for this particular event.

One less action step needed for the prospect

This summer I have had the opportunity to move over 3 more clients from their existing 1shoppingcart accounts to Infusionsoft – Yay!!!! I just love this program, really I do. Yes, it has it’s quirks but hey, what program doesn’t have something you don’t like?

One of the hidden gems that each of these new infusionsoft users were not aware of are the beyond cool “tracking links”. I have to tell you, I could spend hours with these things. They are beyond ad-trackers. What I love is that you can not only track when someone clicks on a link in your email or follow up (autoresponder), but you can also assign it ACTIONS! You can tell the system that if they click on the link, to also tag them, add them to another follow up/or remove from a follow up and more. You can also set rules – and say this action only works if they have already purchased “x” or registered for a certain teleclass.

So, if you are an infusionsoft user, are you REALLY using tracking links?? Would love to hear other ways entrepreneurs are using these links. Would you share below?

-Amber

Today's post is one that comes from my heart...About six months ago, something touched me - something moved me.

Today’s post is one that comes from my heart…

About six months ago, something touched me – something moved me. A commercial – A Message. Now those who know me well can testify that yes, while up in the wee-hours of the night with any of my children, I have had a tendency to order infomercial products. But this is different. This makes a difference. It is not a CD collection, gadget that makes cool looking sandwiches with your leftovers or the air climber that is to help you lose weight (ok so I did get the air climber too). This was to help someone get the stuff they needed that could not be done on $25 a month budget. Yes, I typed that correctly, $25 a month.

That is how I met Mary and became her sponsor through Compassion International. I decided that while I sat here well fed – others were not and although I am one person, I could still help. Mary lives on the plains of Kiini, home to approximately 4,000 residents. Typical houses are constructed of earthen floors, brick walls and iron sheet roofs. Her diet consists of maize and beans and she is faced with malaria, a common health problem in her area. She is supported solely by her mother who is a farmer.

My reason for this today is that I would like to send Mary a Christmas gift and provide her with more than just my monthly sponsorship fee. And – I have decided that all my clients can help!

For the month of September, I am sending Compassion International 5% of my earnings so that Mary can have a special Christmas gift. So, if you are a current client – nothing you need to do but know that I am doing this and for those of you who are thinking about having my team help – now is the month to get started!

About Compassion International. They exist as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training.

Today, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 25 countries.

I was asked this question yesterday during a weekly call with a client. She asked, “with all different url shorteners is there a particular one you recommend?”. Great question – here is how I responded.

While I’m not sure about all of the url shorteners available right now, I can share with you the ones I use on a daily basis.

In the past, I always used tinyurl.com. They were the “original url shortener” and came around in 2002. They were for a while, the most known and widely used. I personally do not use tinyurl anymore because some of the other shorteners have come out with some great additional features – such as shorter urls (the whole point of a tiny url is that it is tiny!) and at the time of this post, they do not currently have a way to track your links for you. Tinyurl.com does provide a 301 redirect which is good. With a 301 redirect it tells the search engine that the url you requested to shorten has “permanently” moved to the original url – giving credit to the original url – not the shortened url.

As far which shortener I use for he majority of my clients? Well that would bit.ly.com and snipurl.com. Both provide shorter characters in the urls created, offer tracking, support Tweetdeck, Twhirl and Twitterfeed and allow sharing.

I also prefer to use the custom options and actually give my shortened url a real name at the end – instead of allowing the program to create a random one for me. ie – www.bit.ly.com/amber compared to www.bit.ly.com/X23df. But that is just my preference. I think it looks nicer in emails

Is there another shortener that you just love? Share it with me here, I’d love to know!

Now…you can select the days and times that autoresponders go out – therefore avoiding days such as Saturday or Friday night. I love that!!!

I had a chance yesterday and today to really play with the Wishlist Plugin for Wordpress. This nifty plugin works with wordpress blogs to manage and allow you to use wordpress as your membership platform.

Now, I have been doing this for several clients using aMember with a blog, but I have to tell you – Wishlist is AMAZING! I love it. The setup proceed does take a few hours – but actually much faster than aMember.

Here are a few features I really liked:

IP Address limit: How cool, you can limit the unique number of IP addresses that attempt to login with the same user login. This prevents those from passing around their login details.

There is a login widgit you can use on the homepage of your blog. Very cool.

Integrates with 1shopping Cart – wohoooo! Anyone wanna try it? Contact me…:)

Also will allow you to integrate with aWeber.

A feature inside the blog post that allows you to say whether it is a protected post or not.

Much more!

Are you using Wishlist? I’d love to know your thoughts!

I received an email the other day from a friend who asked me if I thought she had to use a domain name with .com – instead of .net or .info. She found a domain name she really liked…but .com wasn’t available. So – does she buy the name she wants with .net or .info or look for another name with .com? Here is what I told her…

When it comes to domain name extensions, most people are familiar with .com.

First, evaluate the purpose of your website. If your website is designed to simply direct people to an affiliate page, then it won’t really matter what extension it has, since they are only going to visit it once anyway. However, if a website is designed for repeat visits, people may not care about the site not having a .com. Sites that contain updated information, games and message boards tend to be the type of sites that get repeat visitors.

Secondly, consider the memorable nature of your domain name. Is the name easy or hard to remember – or type? Your goal is to make it something they can easily remember and type – you don’t want to frustrate someone who leaves after not finding your site after a short while.

Thirdly, determine whether or not a domain name with an unconventional extension will rank higher in search engines than a domain name with a traditional one.

My opinion - I recommend finding an easy to remember and type domain with a .com after it if your goal is to bring new visitors to the site.
